"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it’s harder every time. You’ll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You’ll fight with your best friend. You’ll blame a new love for things an old one did. You’ll cry because time is passing too fast, and you’ll eventually lose someone you love. So take many pictures, have many laughs, and love like you’ve never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never get back"

National Cupcake Day
I’m giving away free cupcakes.
UPDATE: I’ve received my three stories, but I’m enjoying them so much that I’m giving out more cupcakes. Keep sending those stories in.
Today is National Cupcake Day, and in honor of the day and to celebrate my favorite baker and good friend Cath, I’ve decided to give away a dozen cupcakes to the first
threesix people who tell me a real-life story about how a cupcake made someone smile.(Granted, I haven’t told Cath about this contest yet, so if she’s too busy with holiday orders, you’ll have to wait until her schedule frees up a little to get your cupcakes, okay?)
So here are the details:
- Send me a story (a few paragraphs of text, a video, an audio clip, photo-essay, etc.) about cupcakes and smiles. The story has to be true, but other than that, I have no other restrictions. I’ll publish the stories on I Tell Stories.
- I will buy the first
threesix people who send me a story a dozen cupcakes. If you live in the Greater Toronto Area, those cupcakes will be made and delivered by Sugar Baking (when her schedule is free and can make them) and you’re welcome to choose any kind of cupcake on her list. If you’re not in the Greater Toronto Area, I’ll buy you a dozen cupcakes from your favorite cupcake shop, up to $30 total cost. That’s all. Email me stories, I’ll buy you cupcakes. And if I get more than
threesix (though I highly doubt I’ll even get that many) I might even consider having more thanthreesix free cupcake prizes. Because it’s National Cupcake Day, and everyone deserves a good cupcake. And if you’re in the Greater Toronto Area and you’re looking for amazing cupcakes, check out Sugar Baking.

Few things in life make me happier than music. Nothing beats a good concert. Super excited about the new Lifehouse song… because that means a new album and also a new tour. After feeling a bit down the past few days, it’s nice to find something small that makes you feel happy again.

I went to my dad’s cousin’s wedding on Saturday - a lovely outdoor wedding on a sunny day. It was a super late night baking, decorating, and packaging the 3 mini’s per guest but well worth the effort. My little cousin Katie tore into hers before the first course was served. Seeing people, both young and old, enjoying the cupcakes I’ve made never, ever gets old.

True friendship is hard to come by. I’m talking about the kind of friend who can read your mind, who’s seen you through the ups and downs, who can be brutally honest with you when no one else can. The kind of friend who inspires you to push harder and go further in life and who believes in you every step of the way.

It was a weekend of wedding showers / bachelorette orders - 3 of them! Onto a big corporate order this week and a double wedding weekend coming up. Lots to do and I’m stressed out as usual, but the feeling you get knowing that you’ve made someone’s special day/event even just a tiny bit better is the best feeling in the world. And it never gets old.
The best part about Sugar* is seeing the excitement and genuine happiness on a client’s face when they see their cupcakes/cookies/cake. And in addition to the fact that I love what I do… this is, without a doubt, what makes it more than worthwhile.

I’ve been playing this song on repeat all day long.
there are many things that I / would like to say to you / but I don’t know how
because maybe / you’re gonna be the one that saves me / and after all / you’re my wonderwall
